What Is a Social Casino

What is a Social Casino

Social casinos can be best described as social casinos with cash prizes. Purchases are possible and entirely optional; two virtual currencies are used instead of real money, and all eligible users can play for free by relying on multiple promotions.

At LuckXpress, we offer over 1300+ of casino-style games - titles from highly respected casino software developers that were specifically modified to use our Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins while retaining high RTP scores and tested RNG systems.

The element of real prizes separates our LuckXpress from all other types of casinos. Playing with our bonus currency, called Sweeps Coins, will convert your entries into redeemable SCs, which can be used to claim gift vouchers or real prizes, provided that you’re eligible and have passed all the necessary verification steps.

If you’re wondering what is a social casino, we’ll explain the concepts and terminology of social gaming to help you understand how LuckXpress Casino, our dual-currency model, and prizes work.

Definition of a Social Casino

Although there are plenty of unofficial explanations online, a widely accepted social casino definition dubs it as “a free-to-play gaming site with casino-style games and prizes.” All of our core features are covered by this definition, so let’s elaborate on each slightly:

1. Free to play site: You won’t have to spend anything to play. We offer all newcomers a welcome bonus, while returning players can use our staple promos like daily logins, mail-in, referral bonuses, and other promotions.

2. Casino-style games: We at LuckXpress don’t offer real cash slots, cards, or tables. Instead, our casino offers casino-style games that have the same core mechanics, in-game bonuses, and graphics as hundreds of real games, but these titles use virtual currencies instead of cash.

3. Prizes: Sweeps Coins won through gameplay can be redeemed for gift cards or real prizes. However, free SCs obtained from bonuses can’t be redeemed before the playthrough condition has been met.

Core Concept

Free play and real prizes are at the core of all social casino models, including the system that our LuckXpress Casino is based on.

No purchase is required to get started, continue playing, or redeem your prizes. However, eligibility (state location and age), playthrough conditions, and having a fully verified profile are mandatory requirements, without which you can’t play for prizes at our site.

Another major element of how social casinos work is related to purchases. More specifically, the lack of mechanisms to directly deposit and withdraw, or even use money, has been replaced by virtual currencies and redeemable gift cards/prizes:

• No use of real money for playing

Our casino-style games use either Gold Coins or Sweeps Coins, depending on your chosen play mode. You can easily switch from one currency to another by simply tapping the Wallet icon. We don’t accept deposits, but players can purchase our optional Gold Coin bundles. Most of our GC packs contain some free Sweeps Coins, while some may be covered by our first-purchase boosters or weekly discounts.

• Redeemable prizes instead of withdrawals

To remain compliant with Anti Money Laundering (AML) regulations and requirements, we at LuckXpress don’t support traditional money transfers the way real casinos do.

This is largely influenced by how virtual currencies work - no money is involved at any stage of your gameplay. Gold Coins hold no real-world value, while Sweeps Coins aren’t withdrawable in the conventional sense. You can only redeem your played Sweeps Coins (meaning the one-time playthrough condition has been met) for vouchers or prizes.

• Guaranteed Alternative Method of Entry

Neither cash purchases nor the use of recurring promotions at LuckXpress is required to play for prizes. We offer a guaranteed Alternative Method of Entry (AMOE), as outlined in our Sweeps Rules, which means that you can request free Sweeps Coins directly from our team.

We process only one request per envelope, and no risk is involved in claiming free coins through dailies, referral rewards, or other promotions available on our site; most of our members combine AMOE with regular bonuses without spending to get the most out of the LuckXpress experience.

Differences Between Real and Social Casino Sites

If we compare real money casinos and social casino platforms, it’s easy to spot several major structural and technical differences between the three.

1. Licensing and regulatory differences

Real online casinos are required to operate with an official license issued by the state regulator. For example, online casinos in Nevada are regulated by the Nevada Gaming Control Board, while online gaming in FL is overseen by the Florida Gaming Commission.

Social casinos are not legally required to hold a license, as they operate under different, non-gambling systems. This means that LuckXpress Casino, just like many other social gaming sites with prizes, can operate in states that generally don’t allow real online casinos.

1. Payments vs. Purchases

One major difference from real money casinos in terms of financial aspects is the use of real money at online casinos, as opposed to reliance on virtual currencies at social casino platforms.

At RMG casino sites, cash deposits are almost always necessary - some may offer no-deposit promos from time to time, but by default, you have to pay to play. This starkly contrasts with the no purchase necessary rule that all social casinos and sweeps sites follow.

The optional Gold Coin packages, typically offered by all subtypes of social gaming platforms, are unnecessary to play or win. They’re essentially boosters that can be used by players who want to claim coins more quickly than what daily free promotions offer.

1. Redemptions vs. withdrawals

Cash prize redemptions at LuckXpress work differently from how withdrawals work at real online casino platforms.

At a traditional casino, users are typically allowed to withdraw cash whenever they want. Sweeps Coins redemptions, however, become possible only after the one-time playthrough has been met and the player has met the minimum redemption threshold - 25 SC for a voucher, or 100 SC for a prize.

1. Prizes

Players win prizes by playing with free, promotional entries that are treated similarly to “bonus funds.” You’re not risking or withdrawing money at any stage. However, we also offer a Recreational Gameplay mode via Gold Coins, which aren’t redeemable and are purely meant to cater to entertainment purposes.

Features of Social Casinos

The main features of LuckXpress Casino are slightly different from those of real casinos:

• Free casino-style games

We offer hundreds of casino-style slots, jackpots, Megaways, cards, and live games, all of which were sourced from respected software providers like Evolution Gaming, Nolimit City, Betsoft, Red Tiger, NetEnt, and Ezugi. They work almost the same as real slot machines, blackjack tables, or roulette wheels, and you’ll get to play them with virtual currencies for free. Our entire library is instantly accessible after signup and verification.

• Complimentary coins for all new and returning players

We offer numerous ways for fresh and regular members to claim free Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins. Newly registered U.S. players are offered a welcome bonus, consisting of a no-purchase deal and one of four available first-purchase boosters, while our active members can refill their balance through daily log-in promotions, mail-in, referral rewards, tournament participation, and many other regular bonuses.

• Clean, navigable UI

The interface of our LuckXpress Casino was specifically designed to be intuitive and beginner-friendly. From the sidebar shortcuts and game highlights to filters and quick-access bonus icons, exploring and interacting with LuckXpress features should feel almost natural to most users.
